Social Skills Training

At All Kids First, social skills training is a key component of our comprehensive treatment programs. We recognize that many children with autism and other developmental challenges benefit from structured opportunities to learn and practice social behaviors in a supportive, naturalistic environment. Our goal is to help each child build meaningful connections with peers, develop effective communication strategies, and gain confidence in social interactions.

One of the core ways we target social skills is through our group times. During these sessions, small groups of children come together to participate in structured activities that promote sharing, turn-taking, joint attention, and cooperative play. Group time also includes circle time routines, singing songs, and storytelling. These activities are designed to create predictable opportunities for interaction while allowing our therapists to model and prompt appropriate behaviors.

We also incorporate a wide range of social games into our daily programming. These games are carefully selected and adapted to each child’s developmental level and interests. Games like “Simon Says,” “Duck Duck Goose,” or board games are used to teach waiting, following rules, taking turns, and interpreting social cues. Our clinicians use behavioral strategies such as positive reinforcement, visual supports, and social scripting to guide participation and celebrate social successes. We foster a positive peer environment where every child feels encouraged and included.

Additionally, we incorporate role-playing, social stories, and video modeling to teach more complex social concepts such as understanding emotions. These strategies help children prepare for real-world situations they may encounter at school, in the community, or at home.

Our clinicians are committed to creating a fun, engaging, and nurturing atmosphere where children can develop the social skills they need to thrive. By combining group activities, targeted interventions, and individualized support, we help our learners build the foundation for meaningful relationships and social confidence.
