In School Therapy
School-based ABA therapy provides individualized support to help students with autism and other developmental challenges succeed in the classroom environment. By delivering services directly within the school setting, our therapists can work alongside teachers and staff to support the student’s learning, behavior, and social interactions in real-time. The goal is to help each child thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while promoting independence and confidence throughout the school day.
Our school-based therapy programs are tailored to meet each student’s unique needs and are built around clear, measurable goals. One major focus is behavior support—addressing challenges such as task avoidance, outbursts, or difficulty following routines. We create behavior intervention plans based on functional behavior assessments, using strategies like positive reinforcement, visual schedules, and proactive supports to help students stay on task and manage transitions.
We also place a strong emphasis on academic support. Our therapists work one-on-one to help students build the foundational skills needed for classroom success, such as attending to lessons, completing assignments, following multi-step directions, and asking for help when needed. We collaborate with teachers to align our interventions with the school’s curriculum and classroom expectations.
Social skills are another key area of focus in school-based ABA therapy. The school environment provides daily opportunities for interaction with peers, and our therapists use those moments to teach appropriate communication, turn-taking, sharing, and conflict resolution. We use modeling, role-playing, and social stories to support students in developing meaningful relationships and understanding social cues.
Additionally, emotional regulation is integrated into our sessions. Students learn to recognize their feelings, develop coping strategies, and appropriately express emotions in the classroom. Whether it’s managing frustration when a task is hard or calming down after recess, we provide real-time coaching to help students stay regulated and ready to learn.
Collaboration is at the heart of school-based ABA therapy. Our therapists communicate regularly with teachers, aides, and support staff to ensure consistency across environments. We also provide training and resources to help school teams implement strategies effectively, fostering a cohesive support system around each child.
